How many people THINK they would be interested in atending monthly fly tying club meetings/socials during the fall and winter months. Please specify if you would attend the ATL area meetings or the Athens area meetings in your reply.

I would be interested in getting together with some folks to tie, but it would need to be somewhere on the NE side of town.

Would possibly be interested. Like merganser said, it would need to be NE part of town.
Problem with folks like me is between wife, kids, soccer, work, and life, things like clubs and such can be hit or miss.
Would love to learn how to tie better.

I am fairly new to this board. Is this via invitation only, or for anyone interested in fly tying? I am not new to fly fishing, but have never tied flies, and would love to learn. Please post or email me with any information regarding fly tying clubs, locations (nearest to Gainesville, GA), times, etc. My email is email@example.com. I look forward to meeting more of you guys.

Jason, off and on for the last 18 months or so different folks - Josh especially - have tried to get something going along these lines.
Like JB RR says, with all the other things going on, plus folks spread out all over town, finding a convenient place and all, we have not had much success, but we keep trying.
Like most things that get put on the board, it's open to whoever is interested.
Maybe this time something will come together even if it's just a one time deal.
Atlanta Fly Fishing Club has a group that gets together usually on the Wednesday the week after they have their monthly meetings. I've been able to make it a couple of times and it was good.
If you are looking for a chance to meet some folks, try to make it to Dreamlands on the 23rd and keep an eye out for the Fall Fling.

Where exactly is Dreamlands in Roswell? I am planning to show and bring my ffing bud. Where do you buy the raffle tickets...there? I look forward to meeting everyone. Q and brew sounds good, how about some good bourbon? Please post more details as I am new to this board. Many thanks!

You can buy raffle tickets there. There are more details in the Dreamlands Northside thread under " Events and Happenings "

I would be interested in attending, atleast when it's possible, around the metro Atlanta area. I think it's a great idea if you can get enough people to fill out the meeting each month. Like everyone, there are so many things going on, including business travel, that it can be tough to commit. Anyway, count me in as an interested party...just can't guarantee I'd be able to make every meeting. Please feel free to email me.

I'd be interested in something in the Athens or East Metro area. Either would be equally inconvenient from Social Circle. http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif
It ain't going to get done until some people do it.
Will at least one person meet me on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday evening at MacCracken's just off the Marietta Square?
Of course, I am amenable to going somewhere else, although I prefer a place on the Northwest side.

I'm in! Would prefer a northeast down to east side location, or even downtown. If need be, I'll drive out towards Marietta/Smyrna area. Let's set this up!

Hey Cheap, I live in Dallas, GA so meeting at McCracken's would not be a problem. I've just started tying flies about 8 months ago and am self taught, so I would like to get together once or twice a month to share ideas and learn from others. Tues and Thurs would be good for me. Just shoot me an email and I will email you in addition to this.
Does NGTO or anyone that was involved in recent attempts to get some fly tying groups started have a problem with any of us just setting a date/time/place?
I certainly don’t want to encroach on anyone else’s turf.

If you guys try to get together, please post time and date. Sometimes I'm working on that side of town and would like to drop by if it works out.
Hope it does!
Cheap, one of the great things about NGTO is if anyone wants to have a gathering all you do is anounce it and see who show's up! http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/wink.gif
No O-fishal approval is needed!
Thanks Greg. I’ll mention it here and on a new post under events & Happenings.
We’ll get together at MacCracken’s just off the Marietta Square at 7:00pm on Tuesday, September 21st.
MacCraken’s is on Atlanta Street, a one-way street, a half-block before it enters the Square on the southeast corner. It’s easy enough to park anywhere on the Square and walk to MacCraken’s.
MacCraken’s has several back rooms; we’ll probably meet in the one with tables. MacCraken’s has a good tap selection and better than average food.
If you need direction’s, please email me or call me at 770-639-7400.

I would be interested in the Atlanta Club. I also have a few friends that would attend.
09-18-04, 09:48 PM
We're just getting a headcount to see who's interested...
I'll know details afetr we see how many folks are planning to attend!
