Jeff,
I've been to all the above many times. I could give you some tips, but then I'd hafta kill ya ;)

Get a copy of Don Kirk's book: Smoky Mountain Trout Guide. I know they have it at The Fishhawk. It has everything you need to know.

There is a very dependable shuttle running from the marina at Fontana Dam to the North Shore Wilderness. Cost varies depending on the number of folks on the boat. They can take as many as 20 folks and their camping gear on one of the pontoon boats. You will be dropped off at the trailheads at the mouth's of the streams.
The marina is owned by Peppertree Resorts. I can't find the number right now but try directory assistance for Peppertree Resort at Fontana Village, N.C. When you call the number, ask for the marina. The marina is open from 8A.M. to 5 P.M..

The Braves may be through!! Time to go fishin'!!

Jeff,

I fished Deep Creek and Noland Creek back in the spring. Did well at both with small bead head nymphs (#16-18). I've heard a couple of reports which said larger nymphs, like #10-12
stoneflies and Princes should do well at this time of year. I don't know the number for the ferry, but you don't need a ferry to get to Noland if that helps. You can park your car and access the stream in less than 10 minutes at a road crossing. From there, an old jeep trail parallels the stream in both directions. Just watch where you step as this trail is open to horses and pack animals as well. Good luck.
