View Full Version : FloatTubes
Pardon what is probably a dumb question, but I've only used a float tube on lakes. When using a float tube on the Hooch, do you need flippers?
Loren
I used flippers for a little while, then I lost them and haven't used them since. You don't really need them on the hooch. Most of the time you can get enough momentum to get
to where you want to go. Another alternative is using the old dustpans off the side. I have seen a couple people with these tied to each side of their tube. You can use them
like mini-oars to move along.

When we bought our float tubes, the guys at the Fish Hawk all discouraged using fins (flippers). All suggested dustpans (tres ugly), but I prefer ping pong paddles.
On the Hooch near Hwy 20, the guys that I have floated with up there recommend fins and so do I (after a trip without).
