clarification-
the fund will enable the state of georgia to increase the purchase of public lands through out the state not just north georgia.
it is projected to generate aprox. 30 million per year to be used exclusively for land
acquistion. the money will be raised by increasing the state real estate transfer tax from its current level of $1 dollar per thousand to $2 dollars per thousand. (Example on a $100,000 dollar home sale it will go from $100.00 dollars to$ 200.00 hundred dollars. ) as our state continues to grow more and more significant / endangered properties will become available and i want our state to be able to compete and succesfully acquire more land for public use.currently our state ranks very low in public land area.
