View Full Version : Moving To GA whats the trout fishing like?
I am moving from Ohio to GA soon and was wondering what the trout fishing was like down there? I primarily fish Michigan Streams and rivers (Pere Marquette, Manistee, Muskegon,AuSable...)General Info on quality of fisheries, and some idea of where they are would be greatly appriciated(Probably wind up in Duluth area) Thanks in advance!
I think it's an unbelievable blessing to have trout fishing this accessible this far south. Rainbow's, browns, and brooks are available with some populations stocked and others wild. Large streams (in Atlanta and north) and small mountain streams in the north part of the state. I moved from Arkansas and have not been disappointed. It may not be Montana, but it ain't bad. Books on trout fishing in North Georgia and maps from the State are available.
Proud to be here

Steel,
Would love to show you some great fishing areas here in N. GA and here all about the Steelhead, Trout, and Salmon fishing I am missinng back in MI. I am a native Michigander and have fish alot of the streams and rivers in Michigan...I even get over to your state to fish the Mawmee River in the spring for the walleye run ( What a mess...never fished elbow to elbow with so many people in one spot...not even at the PM or the St. Joe ). When are you going to be in the area? Drop me an e-mail and lets see what you think of N. GA fishing...It is warmer so fish9ing is a little more barable here in the so called winter months.
Fish on....
