Has anyone stayed and fished at The Dogwood Riverside Inn? How was it? Where is it?
Old Man,
I stayed there about a month ago. Bruce Hanson, the owner, has a first cl****operation. The accomadations are comfortable, spacious, and well maintained, and the fish are impressive. I would highly recommend it to anyone. It's like fishing at Brigadoon on the Soque, but with a free cabin.
The Dogwood Riverside Inn is located in Blue Ridge, which is about a 90 minute drive north of Atlanta.

Have stayed at Dogwood on two occasions in the last year & it has become my favorite fishing getaway. I always stay at cabin #1 & Fightingtown Creek is flowing almost under your rear deck. It is a private stream & Bruce has enhanced a 2 or 3 hundred yard stretch of stream & has stocked 20" plus trout. Or if that is not your cup of tea you can hike downstream to the meadows & fish for nonmanaged trout. He can also set you up with a float down the Taccoa below Blue Ridge dam. I' d highly recommend this. Like I said, it's turned into one of my favorite trips. I was up about a month ago. I was recovering from surgery at the time & was unable to fish much. As it turns out the Georgia Federation of Women Flyfishermen had rented the two cabins next to me & I had a good time sitting on the portch reading a book & watching them fish. Before you go stop by a good bakery, the Honey Baked Ham store & a good wine store & you'll be set for the weekend. I'm starting to sound like a commercial, but that's how strong I feel about the place. Bruce & Margaret will have you feeling like family before you go home.

Georgia Women FlyFishers made a trip out there about a month ago. We had such a great time that I think we will probably try to go about twice a year. I know a number of the ladies are planning to make trips up there on their own.

Ole Man,
My wife and I have been there last two years. All of the above comments are right. The Hansons run an excellent operation. Accomodations are better than you have any right to expect for a rental and they make you feel right at home. Fishing is great right out the backdoor of the cabins. If you want something a little different, ask them about their property over on the Toccoa. They have a couple of cottages over there also. Hope you have as great a time as we do up there. When I win the Lotto, I'll probably buy a place up there. Oh yes, if you are looing for a diversion, the Blue Ridge Scenic Rail Road from Blue Ridge up to Copper Hill, TN is a relaxing half day trip.
Have Fun and Tight Loops,
Capt Joe
PS Tell the Hansons that Capt Joe and Billie from Panama City said "Hello".
Ole Man,
I would go for the cabin on top of the mountain overlooking the Toccoa river...WOW to say the least. Nice A-Frame, secluded and extremely relaxin..also my girlfriend landed her first fish on a fly-rod there. Very nice place!
