We are ging to have another Fly Fling on the 22nd of November at the Buford Hatchery. The Fling will start at 2:00 and will go untill everyone gets tired of swaping stories and we have tied enough flies to last through the winter or something like that.

People are welcome to bring snacks and drinks and the coolers and ice will be provided. Someone suggested last time that we do pizza...any thoughts on this?

I would like to get a float together that morning. We will float from the dam to the hatchery. This is about a 4-5 hour float or longer if the fishing is good. I would like to be on the river by 7:00 or so. If you would like to float drop me an e-mail so I know how many are going and how to set up transpertation...also if you have a truck please let me know if you can haul people and tubes.

Thanks again to Bill Couch and the Buford Hatchery....

I believe that there is wadeable water next to the hatchery - Flyguy can you back me up here?

Just up from the hatchery there is a good shoal area. You walk around the outside of the fence at the hatchery and up a trail about 3/4 mile walk.

Not sure about this, but I know Bill fishes behind the hatchery.

The shoals near the hatchery, is that the Bowman Island area?

The Bowman Island area is up river of the hatchery a little ways.

HNeal asked about Bowman's Island and the Hatchery.

Go to my "not-for-profit" "spam-free" web page and scroll to the bottom. Click on the hyperlink entitled, "Bowman's Island and the Trout Hatchery". You will then access a aerial photograph of the above referenced area on the Microsoft Terraserver. You can see the hatchery at the bottom center of the photo. Play around with the zoom feature and move up and down the river. Shucks, if you look closely, you can even see Bill Couch waist deep in the water, practicing his roll cast. ;)

This should give you an idea of the geography of the area.

See you Sunday.

Thanks, Drifter, those are nice aerials, very useful -- now if there were someway to spot fish in real time <g>
