Hey Y'all,

As a few of you know, each year I host a fishing get-together known as the NorthEast Georgia (NEG) Clave for the FlyFish@ folks. This year, I've decided I would like to invite the NGTO folks as well.

Here's the skinny. In past years the clave has been held during August or September at Oconee State Park, just across the GA/SC state line and near the Chattooga River. This year I'm moving the clave to Unicoi State Park and it will be held June 25-27.

Some of you are asking; "What the heck is a clave?" Well, a 'clave' is simply a get-together of friends. We fish, eat, drink, tie flies, tell lies, and have a generally grand time. Want to bring the family - no problem! Bring 'em on - this is a family event.

I realize that this is very early notice but I wanted to give all of y'all an opportunity to get it on your calendars. Feel free to contact me at sdavenpo@lawco.com with any questions you might have. I'll post more details and reminders on the board closer to time. Hope y'all can make it.

Steve D.

Jeff,

You're welcome to organize a contest if you like. I try to keep claves fairly simple so there will only be two "organized group events", both being on Saturday night.

We'll have a raffle Saturday night just after dinner. The general format is bring a prize (doesn't have to be flyfishing related but should be something someone would enjoy receiving) and your name goes in the pot. We'll also be getting prizes from manufactures, dealers, and local flyshops so it won't just be what everyone brings. Last year we had about 15-18 folks participating in the raffle and we went around 4 or 5 times.

Food? Yep, bring some. We'll have one group dinner on Saturday night - one of the FF@ guys will be making a couple of huge pots of jambalaya for everyone to enjoy. Everyone who partakes in the jambalaya will be asked to ante up about $3 to pay for the fixins. I would encourage folks to bring a side dish or fix something there at camp we can sample as well. You'll be on your own for drinks, cups, plates, and eatin' utensils. If the past claves are any indication you'd better be hungary Saturday night!!
