I've been by the hatchery on the river , but never been there on the road. Coming from the east (from Cumming) on 20 do you cross the river and turn in left somewhere?
What about coming up GA 400? J. byrd

I'm no longer in Atlanta(35 years later)-thank God. I'm in Cartersville. So, don't want to go south to 285 in order to go north. Way out of the way. Will be going 20 east to Canton, Cumming ,Buford. Any info on where the turn in is?

Sorry byrd
Think I misread your post. Guess you're looking for directions too. Should be forthcoming shortly.

Ole Man,
Barring any unforseen circumstances, I'll be at the Primer. I've got to pick Bill Couch' brain regarding the Walleye fishing behind the Hatchery. To heck with the trout http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/wink.gif
When your coming east on 20 from Cumming, on your left about a mile before you cross the river, is a residential area with lots of nice new homes. Turn left into this neighborhood and your next turn will be a right. The signs are quite prevalent. If I recall correctly, there is a green sign at the Hwy 20 entrance that says something to the effect: Buford Trout Hatchery. If you cross the river, you've gone too far.
If your coming from Sugar Hill, hold these directions upside down and read right to left http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/wink.gif
I'll probably hang out at the NGTO booth a bit while Little Drifter wreaks havoc on this fine facility. Look forward to seeing you all.

PS: Unfortunately Johnny W. will not be making the Primer http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/frown.gif

No. Johnnie W. is more of a Scottish heritage. His favorite colors are red and black. He's been known to make men babble in foreign tongues and even write poetry in his presence. He's especially good at helping one tie flies. Don't know if you've met him or not. He's very old. Do you know him?

Ole man...There is a green sign on 20 that says hatchery but you have to look for it. Like drifter says if you get to the river go back a little and look for the hatchery sign, the fancy entrance to the neighborhood and it has a white fence like an upscale horse farm..From 400 its a left turn..from Buford its a right turn into the sudivision..When you turn into the subdivision....you have to drive a few blocks (don't take your first right) before you get to your turn on Trout Place. That's what the street sign will say...take a right at the sign and stay right down the hill until you run into the hatchery...can't miss it. Looking forward to seeing you folks there...I'll be at the TU table.
