The Georgia Foothills Chapter of Trout Unlimited will hold it's regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, May 18th in Gainesville at the U.S. Forest Service building on U.S. Hwy 129 North. The meeting will begin at 7PM and everyone is invited.
The topic for Tuesday's meeting will concern the review process currently in process for management of the Chattooga Wild & Scenic River corridor. Among other considerations is a proposal that would establish a new Chattooga Wilderness Area. This sounds like a noble effort; however, trout fishermen need to know that, should the section from Burrell's Ford downstream to Big Bend Falls be designated wilderness, there would be no more stocking of trout in that section. This could, for all intents, mean the end of trout fishing on this section of the Chattooga. If you are interested in this, please plan on attneding the meeting. You do not have to be a member of Trout Unlimited to attend; please come.
