(Preface - I originally intended to post this next week. However, as is expected before a weeks vacation, next week is shaping up to be a bit more hectic than this week. Since I had time to put this update together, here it is)
Well folks, this is the last NEG Clave update (aren’t you glad?!). Looks like my own plans have finally stabilized. I’ll be away from my computer after about 5:00 on Friday, June 18 and will be out of town from Sunday, June 20 until Wednesday, June 23. If you need to get in touch with me about NEG while I’m away from my ‘puter, try dropping an e-mail to Doc Shaffer at mschaffer@mindspring.com and he’ll forward it to me or leave a message on my answering machine at home at 770-463-5319.
Currently, I’m planning to arrive at Unicoi around noon on Thursday, June 24th and will post a sign somewhere at or near the campground check-in desk with my campsite number on it. If anyone beats me there, please do the same so we can all try to get in the same area.
Given my plans and the fact that Donald Yelton is now becoming quite busy getting the fixins ready to make a couple of huge pots of jambalaya, its pretty important that we get the attendee list as close as we can to final by Friday (June 18) so we can make sure we have enough of everything. BTW - I haven’t heard from anyone whose young’uns will be attending whether you’d like us to provide hot dogs and chips for the kids at supper on Saturday. Again, be sure to let me know so we can be prepared. Also, I’ve got it on good authority that this years cannoli hatch will be of the blueberry dun variety.
Most of the recent fishing reports I’ve heard from the clave area suggest nymphs are working well (BH Princes, GRHEs, size 16 & 18). Dry attractors and EHCs are also doing pretty well and I wouldn’t be too surprised if terrestrials were the real ticket.
