Anyone know of any other good rivers/streams besides Tellico near (within 60 miles) the "Hi"?

Why would you want to fish anywhere else? The Hi is described in several publications as THE premier trout fishing river in Tenn. Maybe the fast water talk has scared some folks, but I see people wading and tubing at max gen. throughout the summer. Church groups come and bring bus loads of kids like 12 yrs old and under that float the full five miles by themselves on an innertube at max gen. Webs store rents hundreds of innertubes for this. HO sometimes shuttles over 700 people a day in their rafting operation. It is a big powerful river, but only a little caution and commonsense is required. For the small stream fan, Gee Creek is nearby. Don't worry, be Happy!

Hehehe
Owl doesn't know whether it stunk or not, he didn't even fish it. When he found out it was over 18 inches deep and more than 20 feet wide, he ran from it like it was a lava flow.

Yeah, I heard he ran up to the Nant. guess he couldn't hang w/ the big dogs.

Hey, I'm just a big dog, on a small creek! http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/wink.gif Whom deathdefyingly(sp?) wades thigh deep in the raging hooch, to catch a few trout.

LOL all the way to the creek!? http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif

Hey Paul, it was going to be a good trip, - When I got there at 6am and poked around the river at the campground I was wondering if I had suggested the wrong trip for you ! Fish rising...and I saw one BIG trout take something 5 ft. out from the bank........but when everyone awoke and we asked about the previous day - uuuugghhh. One trout among four two drift boats ! Those that wanted to catch fish http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/wink.gif headed for NC ! First day, three of us got about 30 fish, second day we only got 12 or so between four of us. Netbot , however, got a big one( would you belive it was ole Scar-Face again, Grizz !!!! ) and Milliam, well, he enjoyed the scenery. ( Sorry pal, I can't resist, my day is coming, I know, I know. hehee )
So, turns out that the Hi was too hot for fishing to be " of any count". That's West GA talk for " any good". I think that lingo leached in from Alabama..... http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif. Anyway, KB was the only one that I heard of that got more than 3 on the Hi all weekend, and he fished a scant few hours. ( Told ya'll he was "the man" ! )

Well, in a word.......ugh. The water was warm and the fish didn't cooperate with anyone but KB.( Told ya'll the was "The Man" !)Two drift boats got one fish on Thursday and ( I think) one or two on Friday. Those of us that wanted to catch fish went to NC. Three of us got about 30 on Friday, and four of us got 10-12 on Sat. Milliam enjoyed the scenery. ( http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif sorry, Milliam, I can't resist ! http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif ) So you def. chose the right trip to get in some good fishing. If the Nan fails us, we'll drag out the topo maps and find Snowbird creek or head for the Tuck or something ! BTW - the fish were there ( in the Nan ) but PICKY and SPOOKY ! http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif

You don't have to rub it in, Fishmonger. Just be glad the rest of us weren't there to nudge you out of your secret locations.

You're right about the scenery, Milliam. I never tire of that area - at least I haven't in the last 20 years! Next time up we'll have to drive on up the road to the little restaurant by the lake for a burger and some fresh-cut french fries. The sign in front of the place boasts "Eric Rudolph Eats Here"

And speaking of scenery, the Hiwassee area has to rank right up there with some of the prettiest, most peaceful country I've ever seen. That drive on 30 between the campground and 411 blew me away.
