What's the lowdown on the FLYFLING?

I would like to go, but I haven't heard much about it. What kind of stuff are ya goin to be doin? Just hangin out? Any one planning on fishing the hooch around the hatchery that morning? It sounds like fun, I'd do it if dadz up to it, of if one of ya takes me! Who waz it that said thay would pick me up? FlyTyFish...ya reading?

It took great restraint for me to keep from making something up but I didn't want somebody showing up at the fling expecting strippers http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif. I say that jokingly because there is a thread that presently has 61 posts bumping up against this one that discusses the fly fling.

However, that thread does only talk about the fling and doen't really say what it is. So, because "fling" is used in a couple of ways on the board, here is a brief discussion that I hope will help clarify.

Fly flings are NGTO get-togethers where the focus is on fly tying. The main goal is to have a good time, put names to faces and, if possible, learn a little about tying flies. It can be just hanging out also. The format is usually wide open and everybody is invited. Even if somebody does not know how to tie flies it is a great opportunity to learn. I believe there will be a discussion at the beginning of this fly fling related to non-profit status for NGTO.

Now, I keep putting the word "fly" in front of fling because some folks may confuse the fly fling with the "Spring Fling" and the "Fall Fling". Those are seasonal social get-togethers more geared toward trout fishing and usually take place near trout waters for some fishing before or after the fling.

However, because this fly fling is at the hatchery, fishing in the morning might be a good idea.
