Does anyone know for sure that the Trout Primer at the Hatchery is still on for Sat March 18 from 9:00am to 1:00pm ? I don't see it listed here on the Board, but Aaron does have it listed under "Events". Reason I ask is that a couple of posts down from here, "Sid" has posted that TU is holding a Kids Fishing Day on Mar. 18 at Azalea Park and that DNR is supplying 3000 fish. Just wondering if Bill Couch is running both of these events on the same morning/same day ?? Anybody know?
I signed up to help out at the hatchery next weekend. What time do I need to show up at the hatchery next Saturday?
Thanks

Heard from Beth Tuttle-she says the Trout Primer and "TU Kids Fishing Day" is coming off on same day, Mar 18. Read on......
SWF-to try and head off confusion here, the TU Kids Fishing Day next Sat, Mar 18 is NOT the one NGTO is participating in. If you signed up here on NGTO to help, NGTO is participating in another Kids Day (Kids Fishing Day 2000) being held on April 29. See "Events".

It's the annual rite of spring known as the Hatchery Tour. Bill Couch will take you up and down the raceways and tell you all about the fish. Various groups like TU, NGTO, Ga Women Flyfishers, US Forest Service, DNR, some Guides, ect have some booths and table set-ups. You can pick up literature and maps, see some flytying, Aaron usually sets up a computer and has the Board here on-line. Usually some informal flycasting going on outside. Just a general trout fishing rally centered around the Hatchery operation. Better be there.
I can bring some tying stuff as well, long as I can test flys in the runways. Let me know what time.

I think I will be able to come and tie for a while. I think I have to tie some nymphs for some swap or something anyway (just kidding swappers).
Besides, I'm gonna have some ********** there for the NGTO'ers to buy anyway. OOOPS, can I mention that yet Aaron?

Based on your description, it sounds like dragging the kids along to check it out wouldn't be too terrible (almost 6 and 10)? Or would this be a bit much for kids to endure?

ShawnT, depends on your kids! http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif No really, they'll be fine. Lots of fish to look at( and feed) and a hundred things going on at once. I think it's just the place to either get them interested or expand they're intrest in trouting.
I am sorry to say that I will be working this year and cannot even weasel my way out of it due to a personnel shortage in the dept. Oh well. I will make the KFE this year and hope to see you all there !

Thanks Ole man. I am going to the best I can to make and meet some of you "experts". If you don't already know I am a beginner FFer and could really use the pointer and what not. Sounds Great.

Does anybody know if there is a ticket master anywhere near the hatchery. Buffet tickets go on sale that mourning at 10:00 and can't pass those up.

Buffet! You mean we're going to get to eat at the Hatchery toooo?
ShawnT,
My kids love the hatchery and they are only 4 and 8. The only thing is that it panics Bill Couch when they get too close to the trout raceways. http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif

BEEEEEEEEEEEEE DUBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB !!!!!!!!!
That is Jimmy Buffett for the Ole Man. I left out one of the "t"'s
I'm not sure if that second "t" matters. They don't call him The Ole Man for nothing http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif.
Hate to ask, but forgot to call the Hatchery.
Can someone give me directions coming from Columbus (I think I'm ok til I hit 400 north)?
Thanks

Take 400 North until you see exit for Ga Hwy 20, I think it's exit 14, not sure. Go up the ramp and turn right (east). Go a couple of miles watching for the Hatchery sign on the right side of the road. The sign, not the turn, the turn in is left. It will look like you are turning in to a subdivision of large homes-you are. Go 2 or 3 intersections til you see one called Trout Blvd or something like that-turn right this will take you straight to the hatchery.
