I hear there will be a Kids Fishing Day on the Talullah on June 10th. I have a couple of kids dying to go, including an 11 1/2 yr. old using Grandpa's 50 year-old fly rod.

Is this the upper stretch above US Hwy 76?

Will adults helping the kids be allowed to cast for them, because we have a couple of beginners who've never used an open-faced ultralight before. I plan on having all the necessary licenses anyway, so it won't matter for me, but I wonder if my wife and friend need them to help the other kids?

I'll probably have older son nymphing, and the 6 yr.old using crickets on the ultra-light.

Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Stu, I would guess that it would be in the USFS area which is above Lake Burton and Clayton. That may be the road #, but I can't remember....maybe Tom can help us out?

I don't think you'll have a problem with casting for the ones who can't. Don't worry about that...just worry about the kid breaking grampa's antique fly rod that's worth $2,ooo ! better be sure it's junk and not a real find! http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif

Owl

and wear bright clothes and carry a air horn...wouldn't want you to get run over by the hoards of people!

Stu: Yes, it is on the upper part of the river, north of Hwy 76. Have fun! Tom

My thanks to Owl and Tom! And Owl, Grandpa's rod is just a Shakespear (Sp?)- 7 1/2 feet and limber as a willow switch. Those 8" stockers will feel like Jaws to him on it, though! You're right about the crowds, though. It's bad on a normal weekend, much less with the extra pressure this will bring!

Tight lines, and release 'em gently!
