View Full Version : Slow water nymphing techniques?
I do most of my nymphing in the spring when the water levels are higher and faster moving. During summer and fall when water is lower and slower, which techniques work best. I want to nymph some of these waters without spooking these fish. Any suggestions?

When fishing slow water (generally deep pools), I've found that you can get great results by twitching a nymph pattern and giving it some action. I typically use bead head patterns to get deep, then twitch it back up through the water profile. I've caught 5 or 6 trout from a pool before where a dead drift had not even brought a nibble.
Kevin,
Thanks for the info. I will give it a try the next time I have a chance.
