Sorry I hit the send key to fast. My question for debate is, which way to fish a wooly bugger. The other day I learned something new in a medium sized stream, where I was fishing a large pool. I cast my wooly bugger upstream at an angle and let it float down the seam of the pool. I caught an 16 inch brown, and proceeded to do the same in some other pools with fairly good success. I know there is probably many ways to fish this great fly, and was wondering if anybody else had any ways they would like to share on fishing the bugger.

i nearly always weight mine with split shot or two depending ont he water and fish it almost vertical upstream with a deaddrift and a strike indicator.....i have had good luck that way.

I'm interested also; I can't seem to catch a "cold" using the bugger or the worm.I've had more luck with streamers, but mabye I'm not fishin' the woolies right.

FBS,
I've had more luck fishing the booger as follows: (1) if the water is moving fast or you're fishing a seam as you did, fish upstream with a dead drift; (2) if you are fishing undercut banks, fish it upstream or across, make a mend to make the fly drift underneath, give a few wiggles/strips and stop, repeat process, trying to get the fish to come out and take; and (3) in slow moving water or in pockets, and as a flyfisherman I hate to admit this publicly, but a jigging motion seems to work best. Good luck!!

Thank you for your input, I wish I was fishing right now, instead I'm getting cabin fever.
