Just want to thank Loren and Flyguy for their replys as to which flys may work well at island ford.Am anxious to try some of them out. Thanks again and good fishing.
Chunker,
since I have most graciously been dumbed Ford Miester, I thought I'd chime in--glad you opened another thread on the topic.
Loren and flyguy are right--those flies prob. work anywhere on the hooch---pretty much all I use anyway.
A word on Island Ford (where I'd be happy to take you out btw) If you see people fishing a spot or wide area--mark it in your mind and keep on trucking. All of my favorite spots at Island ford, I rarely if ever see people fish.
I almost always make a bee-line for the other side of the island--I don't know that it is anymore productive, but it is more isolated and folks just don't like to traverse the island and risk tearing their waders--price I have paid a couple of times.
My favorite thing about Island Ford is all the great dry fly water---Caddis will emerge early as crap this year--should be a blast in just a few weeks.
Non-closable?
Rod
rod,
I like your spot (sorry) as well. In fact going down there tomorrow. Maybe I will see you there. What are some dires I should try?
Briggs,
try the usual---parachute adams--#14-20
ehc #12-18
try a soft hackle in the film and also a doranto variant---grhe in the film
I won't make it tomorrow. Tell me how you do.
Think I'm gonna p****on char for another week. Hitting Crappie at Tribble Mill Friday---with minnows, taking the fly rod just in case.
