This is off-subject, for fishing-but I don't know who else to ask. I know a lot more about fishing than I do about this computer-just 9 months on-line. Dan Baileys has an ad in the VFS classifieds for "Patgonia & Ex-Officio Clearance Blow-out at 50% off". I e-mailed for the list and they sent it. When I opened the document, it is just a m****of symbols that I can't read. It is called Microsoft Word Document (application/msword), Encoding :base 64. I'm using a Pentium 11, 300 mhz, and Netscape. How do I read this document? This may be a goofy question-but I don't have a clue . http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif Heeeeeelp
TOM,
First you need to download/detach the file from your mailbox. Save it in a folder (My Documents, on your desktop or someplace you can find it). Then, open Microsoft Word and open the file where you saved it, i.e., My Documents, etc. If you don't have MS Word, hopefully you have another word processing program, such as Lotus or MS Works that will open MS Word files. If this is the case, you need to change the type of file extention you are opening- which can be selected when you open files with your program. Does any of this make sense? If not, forward me the email with the attached file mrhollock@armstrong.com and I'll open it, put in an email as text (and not an attachment) and that way you can read it just like an ordinary email...

Thanks. I don't have Word, Lotus or Works. Seems screwy for a comm. site to send an advertisement and assume the customer has the tools to read it. Whats wrong with plain text? http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif Will forward to you for deciph.
TOM,
It's a lengthy list, so that's why they put it in a file. I had a hard time opeining the list & deciphering the trash. Hopefully you can understand it in the email I sent you. If not, let me know. I emailed Bailey's for a copy of the list, too. Maybe that one will work better.

Are you not catching any fish? Just cast your offering upon the water. If the fish gods approve, ye shall be rewarded. Seek and ye shall find. Ask ,and it shall be given unto thee. Knock and the door shall be opened. Just don't be knocking in my honey holes. http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif
