I am going to Ft Collins 9/4 - 9/12 for a little vacation. I need advice on flies and what rivers are the best to try in the area . Any help is greatly appreciated.

Ah Ft. Collins (Colorado I assume)! I went to college (Undergrad) there and lived there 10 years. Trout fishing contributed to my "not-so-great" grades from the past. There are MANY great streams and rivers to fish in the general area, within a 15 min to 1.5 hr. drive. I got kind of spoiled having some Gold Medal trout water within 15-20 minutes of my house. Near town your best bet would be the Poudre. It runs into town and comes out of a long canyon west of FTC. I haven't been up there in a few years, but it is a well used and popular river. You will need to contend with rafters as well. There are also the North and South Forks of the Poudre, Big Thompson River, Laramie River, and several lakes and reservoirs nearby. You should be able to fish for brown, rainbow, brooke, cutthroat(maybe)and lake trout, as well as arctic greylings and whitefish. You can feel free to e-mail me, if you want, for more details. You will be in great spot for vacationing and flyfishing. BTW there are also many great restaurants and brewpubs in FTC.
