Can anyone tell me just what filo or filoplume is? I know it's used for, among other things, wings on RS2's, but I don't know what part of what bird it comes from.

TIA

Milton filoplume is a softer shorter form of marabou, it is the small feather at the base of the marabou feather. You can find it on turkey or pheasant skins, usually toward the back and sides once you find the marabou spread it apart and look for the small feathers at the base of the mature feathers these feathers will be filoplume. It gives great animation in very still water. I use it for tails and bodies, although it is very fragile and a little hard to work with. Check out the first NGTO fly swap I tied a Filoplume mayfly for it.
