I've heard you can download a free firewall from the internet. Do any of you "experts" out there have any suggestions?

TIA

For those of you with fast connections (eg cable/DSL) there's a very cool product that you should be aware of. It's the Linksys Cable/DSL router. Amazon.com has them for sale for 129.00 (Office Depot, and Comp USA have them for 169.00 and 159.00 respectively). It will accomplish the following, with very little setup:

- Firewall
- Port sharing. Allows up to 4 machines to share the same internet connection (a hub can be added to multiplex further).
- MAC address cloning. For those ISP's that require the identity of the machine to be disclosed, you can clone the MAC address of your machine onto the Linksys router. (very cool) This makes the ISP *think* that you've only got 1 machine hooked up to the net.
- Some speed improvements due to hardware vs software interface.
- And more to include DMZ configuration for ftp access, etc.

Just FYI
