Ok, I'm not even going to bother explaining, but does anybody know where in North Georgia I might be able to dig some ramps??

(Hey, the forum says to ask any difficult questions!!)

Good Lord, man! You might as well ask Owl to give up his favorite brookie stream in a letter to the Atlanta Constitution, with a copy enclosed to PETA Monthly. http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif

Actually, ramp season is one time of the year I look forward to, and is about the only time of the year I keep a few trout to eat. There is no better cholesterol hit than fried trout with potatoes and ramps, wahsed down with a cold brew. Jest don't get no better.

Now, to answer your question, no, I'm not familiar with N. Ga. ramp patches, but I could put you in a few in WNC, if you agree to go blindfolded!! http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif

I knew it was a risky question! My mom's in town this week and mentioned that my father, who is fishing this week in WV, was going to get her a 5 gallon bucketful while he was out, and my mouth just started watering!! Actually, I may have a lead on a place. . .

BS: I've sent the letter for Owl. Look for it tomorrow! I just hope PETA doesn't show up at Owlie's with a truckload of trout manure! (or is that manoir?)

Steve -
If you score some ramps, please gargle before hitting the keyboard. We have innocent women and children here! http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif

A type of scallion or spring onion, only on steroids. Really, really potent flavor and aroma.
