Being from Tampa originally, I grew up fishing saltwater, mostly inshore.
I miss the days of casting a gold spoon into football field size schools of redfish and tossing Greenback Bombers under lighted docks at 1:00am for stacked snook. I remember fishing the Skyway Pass for triple digit tarpon in July and bottom bouncing selects in the bomb holes at Ft. Desto park for gators (or a bonus ling) in the winter.
I used to share some of my honey holes with the uninvited porpoise and the more welcomed feeding manatees. Mostly though, it was just me and the always friendly pelican begging for my throwbacks.
Man I miss Florida......I need a vacation!

I started to do some redfish chasing this summer and fall in HHI area. I have only caught a few. I pretty much suck at it.
However, I really want to learn.

i do as much as humanly possible. redfish, trout, tarpon, flounder, and stripers are the typical targets. also make a few seasonal trips to chase cobia.

Funny you say that Capt. It was both! Actually, I moved to Atlanta after spending 2 years in the USVI's. So, it HAD to be both a woman AND a job to make me leave there!
FISH....I'm planning a trip to Tierra Verde (St. Pete) in February (14-17th). It's a stones throw from Ft. Desoto.
Interested????

Salt Rules! I've been FFing since I was 12 but only for the last 4 yrs in the salt. I love fishing skinny water out of a kayak for reds. Getting towed around. Mainly NE Florida and Beaufort/Hilton Head - wanna learn Cape San Blas and Mosquito Lagoon bad!

i make standard run to st. marks every may, will be going there this spring; shell island fish camp. very in expensive and great redfish and specks. we do the family summer trip to st.george, take boat out on appalachola bay. you never know what you will run into. we found a school of large spanish, 24" typical last summer that made the drags sing.

Its great to see so many of you "Salty Dogs" on here!
Me for one, love the BIG fish that saltwater has to offer the coastal angler.
In my younger years I was a mate on a 42'Ocean Sport Fisher for four years, catching; Marlin,Tuna Whahoo,Dolphin---etc. THIS WILL RUIN ANY FRESHWATER ANGLER FOR SHURE!!!!

I've been fishing the salt for years. Left coast as a youngin and the right coast the past 25+ years.
Been flyfishing some on the right coast the last couple years. The flyfishing is great, the catching has been fair http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif
Spanish Mackeral, Striped Bass, Speckled Trout & (ahem) Croaker are what I've caught on the fly (so far) off the S.E. GA coast. Goin to try and get rid of the Red Drum mojo this year http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/wink.gif
