I am in the market for a new pair of wading boots and need to know if the Aqua Stealth wading boots work as well as do felt soles.I like the idea of not having to have it resoled every year.

Don't own a pair myself, but I came across this review of them:

This guy didn't seem too happy with the durability of the boot, but he said they held the rocks alright.

Forget the aquastealth......I had a pair and slipped and slided from GA to CA. The end was when I slipped on the Chattooga and sprained my wrist.

I sent them back to Bean and ordered their boot with the felt sole and studs. I am VERY HAPPY with them. I fish a lot, and have been fishing them for two years. The soles still have another year left.

Forget the aquastealth soles. THEY ARE DANGEROUS.

I agree with David. I owned a pair the first year they cam out. Haven't spent that much time sitting in the water since I used to play with a rubber duckie in the tub! L. L. Bean is a great company, & the stealth idea is a good one, but these boots are a bad idea; at least as far as southeastern freestone streams are concerned.

For what it's worth.

I have owned a pair for more that a year.
Overall very good grip on dry rocks and
wet rocks that have a rough surface.
Very slippery on slime covered or
slick rocks like quartz. They also don't
grip as well in cold temps.

Compared to plain felt, the ****are better. Compared to felt+studs, they are not as good.

On the original style boot (which I have)
the stiching has started to come off.

I would buy them again. Maybe get a pair
of the slip on boot chains.
