Fellow Fly Tyers,

There are currently (18) people signed up for the 1st Annual NGTO Flyswap. Two more slots are open to give us the somewhat magic number of twenty (20) participants. To the participants already signed up - The list will not be expanded beyond twenty (20). So if you want to send in your flies now, go ahead and send the twenty.

If you want to be included in this historic moment of flyfishing history......Read the "rules of the swap" at:

http://webpages.charter.net/skeeble/index.htm/Index.htm

Then email me (The Drifter) with your choice of pattern (skeeble@charter.net)

The first two entries that arrive in my e-mail will be added to the Flyswap to complete the list.

Thanks,

The Drifter

Swappers,

The 1st Annual NGTO Fly Swap is now closed for entries. Merritt Lancaster (Fishface) and Kent Edmonds are the final two tyers to join. We now have a total of (20) twenty entries. ( I don't have an email address for Richard, Richard you out there?) Thanks for the participation.

Reminder: Try to have your 20 flies completed and in the hands of The Drifter by 01/31/99.

I'll be corresponding with the swappers via e-mail until the pictures are posted at The Virtual Fish Camp. At that time, the Board will be notified and the page will be unveiled for all to see and peruse.

Let's start tying!

Fellow Cyber-Fisherfolks,

I have been keeping the Fly Swap participants updated via e-mail. I thought I might post a note to the board for the non-participants.

The first few entries have arrived in my mailbox. I am very impressed. We have some highly-talented folks on board here at NGTO. I cut the entries off at 20 folks, mainly because I didn't want to be tying flys all winter. I think others will concur. Sorry for those left out http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/frown.gif

I think when the participants receive their fly collection, there will be an outcry for another swap!

One thing I have noticed when I tie is I tend to "adapt" a particular pattern to my favorite streams. This might mean adding lead wire to a nymph, substituting a deer hair wing for a hackle wing fly, tying a pattern parachute-style, etc. I try to give the fish what they like. So what I'm seeing with the Fly Swap entries is some standard patterns which have been "personalized". Pretty neat! I have particularly enjoyed the narratives that have been sent along with the flies.

Anyhow....the Swap is progressing nicely. As a consulation, I want to post pics on my Web Page of the entries along with the recipe and info sent in by the tyer.

Thanks to all the participants...The Drifter
