I've just tied a new pattern that I'm calling Mr T's Grub but won't get a chance to get north for quite some time. I need someone who fishes regularly to tie one and see how the trout like it. Here's the recipe.

Hook: #16 curved
thread: Brown
Body: off white or cream ultra chenille
Rib: #21 brown floss (use one strand of the four)
Weight: four turns of fine lead or alternate (You might want to try one weighted and one weghtless)

Instructions: tie in floss about 1/3 up from tip, then tie in ultra chenille. Wind thread forward to eye. Wrap lead over thread no closer to eye than 1/3 hook length. Wind chenille forwardto just in front of last turn of lead. Tie down and trim. Wind floss forward four turns to reach end of chenille.
Tie and trim. This should leave a little less than 1/4 of the hook length for the head. Build thread up from eye to form a rounded head then either whip finish or tie a couple of half hitches. Apply head cement to give the head a shiny finish.

This fly duplicates a cutworm grub that we used to catch with gr****straws when I was in elementary school. It ought to be deadly, especially in the summer. Not sure how it will work this time of year.

Fish it on a dead drift like a nymph even though it technically is a terrestrial.

If someone does decide to give it a try, please let me know how it worked.

Thanks

Mr. T
