I'M IN NEED OF SOME NEW FLY LINE FOR MY
(6-1/2 2wt.) FLY ROD . I FISH MOSTLY SMALL
MOUNTAIN STREAMS FOR BROOKIES AND WILD BROWNS (FAIRLY COLD WATER). I'VE BEEN USING
SA ULTRA3 DT2F BUT I'M NOT HAPPY WITH IT.
IT SEEMS TO POSESS A BIT OF MEMORY AND WHAT
I FEEL IS POOR FLOATABILITY.
HOW DOES THE SA XPS'S FLOATABILITY COMPARE WITH THE SUPER FLOATATION OF THE GPX LINE?
I NEED LOW MEMORY AND HIGH FLOATABILITY.
ANY INFO IS APPRECIATED THANKS

Sorry, but I've never used either of those lines. Apparently no one else on this board has either. I use the Climax Double/Double lines mostly. Double taper with a different wt. size on each end. Come in 4/5 , 5/6 ,7/8, etc. You can turn them around to fine tune a rod or use on a different rod, etc. Cortland bought Climax so I guess they are really a Cortland line. They serve my purpose and I find that a DT loads a rod better even though WF is the current rage. They are available at www.hookhack.com if you are interested. See the specials.
I've got the GPX 4WF. The line is very slick but the line has some memory. Its too supple and its easy to tangle the line. While shooting line, the line has a tendency to knot.
I just got a Lazerline DT4. Haven't tried it yet but the line appears to be much stiffer and just as slick.

I think I could help. I just put the XPS line on my 6 1/2ft. 2wt. as coencidence would have it and from what I have experienced. I was casting the flies up lincoln's nose on the penny. I love it. If you need some help. go by the fish hawk or other outfitter and ask to let you test out different lines on your new rod. That's how I did it at the Fish Hawk. Any shop will probably have spooled up line that you can test out. I do recomend the XPS.
