Thanks to Skibum and his buddy we had an uneventful trip. By that I mean we didn't float for 10 hours just 6. My buddy and I (both new to float tubing) tried to go from hiway 20 bridge to Mcgennis Ferry. we thought it would be 5 to 6 hours having never done a float before. Boy were we wrong. Luckily we ran into Skibum and his neighbor who had a cell phone and directions on how to get out of the river. Boy would we been in for a looooooonnnnngggg day. As it turns out it was fun, caught some fish and lived to fish another day. But boy were lessons learned....thanks agin to Skibum and his neighbor....Skibum lets try fishing together sometime....

Trip Report:
Went up to MF and walked in on the dirt road. (Parking is tough there now, they have the dirt path on the downstream side closed off with cable; had to park by the new subdivision and walk over the bridge). Anyway, walked up the dirt road, till it ends, then got onto another path and walked that to just about the horse farms if I had to guess, probably 2mi total. Ended up bush-whacking until I came out just below where the river turns and by a beautiful run. Got rigged up with an olive WB and BHP dropper and hit the water, (about 9:30) picked up one bow right away.
Started to float down and ran into some fellas in a canoe throwing jerk baits, said they had about 20 already, told me stick to the right side.
Fished the sunny side, and picked up a few along the bank, throwing at down trees and into cover. Most came on the WB. Changed to a hopper with a dropper, and tried a beetle again with the dropper with no luck.
Ended up changing back to the WB, I casted toward the bank 50 yds above the big rapid, the WB hit the water, gave it two short strips, and line went tight (no strike indicator needed here http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif) played him for a little bit, and pulled up a nice fat brown. He was beautiful, fish of the day!
Continued on down stream, casting at the runs and banks, managed one or two more.
Got off the water about 1pm, after a spectacular day!
Vidalia, I tried to call you Friday night, but no answer, I guess I should have tried you that am, given the time of your post, next time....
Hey no problem.. http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif Glad we could help.. Next time maybe we'll have a rope to help us all climb that bank...lol My friends got a sweet access to the river would'nt you say http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/wink.gif http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/wink.gif
