Anyone want to get out this Friday afternoon? Looking at Island Ford, Jones Bridge or maybe a little higher near the dam? Got to check the release time....any takers?

well, I got to say, you fellas missed out.

Went to JB and walked down to the Judge at around noon. Picked up a few on BH prince and black/olive woolys; early on it was pretty slow as a walked above the shoals and down. Then the rain came.....put on the rain coat and watched as the BWO came off like truck loads!! Them trout started rising without any hesitation, put on a size 22 BWO and some 7x flouro and it was on!!! I felt like Firewalker yelling YAHOOOOOO!! in the rain as I caught them on the dry fly! So many I had to change flies, as they destroyed my first one...boys, it was a good Friday afternoon.

Well good to hear it bud! However I Didnt miss it I was with another Hydro Group member fishing Fires Walk which is up stream quite a ways http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/wink.gif Sorry guys this one remains a secret. We fished there all day fri and yesterday. I landed 3 fish in the 14 inch class with a few bruisers that were pushing 16. All on the Wooly Mullins size 8-12 (Olive) YAHOOOOOOOOOOO!

Caddisfly,

I was in the boat with Chris Scalley and a client (two boat flotilla, actually). Were you one of the two guys in the float tubes we passed?

I remember that hatch, also. But what surprised me (newbie) was that the mayflies were cream colored. I thought BWO's were darker, almost like a gnat.

Are we talking about the same hatch? If so, now that I've seen a cream colored BWO hatch, what are the little olive ones called?

Thanks!!

No, not me in the tubes and I did not see anyone in boat, I must have left before you guys got down that far.

Sulfur Comparadun were the small yellow colored, BWO are just that, blue wings with an olive body. Look at Walkers post in the general section for comparaduns. Also goto hiwassee.net for some pictures of BWO's and comparaduns.

Caddis,

Thanks for the advice. I'll check this out further. Actually, I figured out based on time that we were gone before you got there. The hatch we found was about halfway between Jones and IF. Could have even been different mayflies.

Thanks again!
