I would love to float the ami but I have no tube or toon. Wading is the ticket at the 53 bridge area. You can cover a lot of water.
EE says he needs to start early so we could all meet up at the bridge at around 8 or 9am.
I can post some directions if anyone needs it. From I-575 where Hwy 92 crosses in Woodstock, it is about an hours 1/2 drive.
The only thing is the rain. If we get a fair amount fo Rrain the Ami can be pretty dangerous and HIGH.
Somewhere else would be good too, if anyone has a suggestions.
Enigman, you got any ideas?

well i can tell you ... i live near dahlonega that is has poured every day this week so far ..... and if it continues this ..... slck is right it os gonna be miserable .... it is slick enough without high water. noontootla would not be any better in high water. matter of fact it might be worse wit hall the small falls and stuff. the forecast is for more rain on friday. so anyone's guess is as good as mine. much as i have to say i hate this .... fact is ..... the hooch below the dam is probably the least impacted stream in the area if they are not releasing.

I have no PFD, would that matter about fishing near the dam? I am not 100% about the rules.
Rock Creek, even though it is a mojority of stocked fish from the hatchery, seems to clear up quickly and I have fished it in the rain many times. Where it dumps into the Taccoa is a good place too. Should not be too much pressure with the rain.
I have tried fishing the toot in the rain and it is not all that fun. I don't mind fishing in the rain as long as I am catching fish.
Weather.com says PM thunderstorms tonight and Scattered T-stroms on Saturday for the City of Ellijay.
Whre would everyone be coming from? Maybe we could meet up in the am and decide depending upon the weather.

you know smith creek i guess is an option if they wanna throw 26 inch fish in there lol. i was also thinking toccoa at the damwould be good also

Yep, I seen Hunfish's post too. Can you imagine hooking a 26" fish on Smith's. Man what a rush. Biggest I ever landed was 23 inches and she was a beast. I really did not want to make the drive to Heen but I might could swing it.
The Taccooa is closer for me and I have not been up there in some time. Anybody else have an opinion?
Sure thing Pete, keep an eyeon the post and meet up with us.
I think we need to make a decision before 8pm so that everyone who wants to come can make plans.

TVA just updated the release info. No generation on saturday until 5p. They will them generate till 7p. So the Taccooa is an option.
Would everyone be willing to meet up at Bargain Barn in Jasper in the morning and then we can decide? I say it will either be the Ami, Toccoa or Rock Creek.
Ya'll can either post or give me a call 770-595-2385 (Trout Bum Hotline)

Slicktrick, et.al. Just a friendly reminder....er.....warning! Tomorrow will be combat fishing on all DH waters in Ga. And especially Smith! The parking lot will be packed before sun up,and corn/cheese & worms will be in the air...... and may be in your hair.....at least thru noon! This applies to the Chattooga and Amicalola, as well! The salad trout days of winter and spring are over, for this year! As a further reminder, all N.C.DH waters stay that way till the end of this month, and a little more than an hours drive past the Helen area gets you to the Tuck., which is home to some 10,000+ trout per mile, and is an easy wade! Being a tailwater, it also stays clear/wadeable, even when generating on some sections! Just a thought for those desperate for their fix!......Mucho regardus, por favor....yu-all, Rocketroy ,

I'll be on the Hooch near the dam/hatchery while my daughter is at the fly fishing clinic at the hatchery. Anyone fishing that area?

If not everyone is up for the long drive the Dam still sounds good to me. There sure are some pretty Brownies in there.
