This is a true story of innocent youth. When I first came to flyfishing, having no idea of the importance of C&R, I kept everything over 9".( at least we ate what we kept.) Sad but true. A friend of mine was with me on a early fall day and the trout were BITING ! We were on an excellent stretch of water "somewhere around the Tallulah", and I threw myRoostertail spnner into a long, calm pool. A GIANT brown around 17" chased it downstream and engulfed it, blade and all. He was a beautiful fish, with bright red spots and a huge hooked jaw.I didn't realize what a trophy this was . It was bright and thick and full of fight as only a wild fish can be. It even jumped . Twice. I'm sad to say we ate him for dinner that night at camp.If I only knew then, what I know now. ( sigh )
