View Full Version : Trouties.......

Fishing last week was excellent. We started off on Monday at Nottely River, saw one local with one trout. Went ahead and wrote that one off. Went to Rock Creek Lake Tuesday and they weren't biting. Went down to the hatchery and caught several out of the creek. We found the mother lode on Rock Creek about 2.5 miles from the hatchery. The blessed tan truck must have visited, they were stacked on top of each other, about 150 fish in this one hole. (I'm not joking). Needless to say we caught a few. Some of them were pretty nice size, too!
Went back Wednesday AM (rain, cold) and loaded up again.
Went to Winfield Scott on Friday and they weren't hitting at all. Went back to the hatchery and the holes were pretty much empty, even though we did see some guys with fish.
The guy at the hatchery said they had stocked Cooper's but we didn't go over. (about 5 PM on Friday) Time for steak by then. Maybe the pattern will be Cooper's on Fridays now for the blessed tan truck.
Since I've got some in the freezer now, next time maybe Water's Creek.

floater,
Go easy man. Check J Olliff profile. Tifton is a long way to travel for trout. Taking some home, especially from a stocker stream, should be no problem. Do you imply that one cannot put fish in the freeze and enjoy fishing too.

Let them dogs run. We ain't had a good hoe down on this board in quite a while. All these new guys on the board probably think we are a bunch of technical fishing elitists. The ole keyboards are crusting over. Let's see some fire boys. I think C&R sucks and was designed for wimp fishermen that can't stand to see a fish die! I think fish are related to snakes and the best place for them is in the deep fry basket! Lenwood Taliferro is my hero! That should do it. Hang on Johnnie this may be a rough ride>>>>>>>>>

All dressed up and no place to go...If the trout are scarce in a stream...I can see putting them back....floater....do you think all trout should be put right back in? None of this misspelled reply that insinuates the keeping of trout is done by some type of uneducated moron...I have not found ANYONE on this board that doesn't like the taste of a well prepared trout....Myself included...spinnner............

I love Dukes Creek. Would like to see several more fisheries like it. If I catch a nice holdover or a wild I'll put him back-- because I would like the chance for some one else or myself to catch him again. If I catch a 15" or larger stocker it's going back cause IT'S TOO D*** BIG FOR MY PLATE. But for you to talk down to someone because they like to keep and eat trout is infuriating. To assume that everyone should have the exact same attitude as you toward a public property is as selfish as you can get. "stoneage days of fishing" I guess you've grown into a far superior being and the rest of us can only look forward to the enlightenment we will someday reach.
Talk fishing here. Find companionship here. Work with people to improve our fisheries here. Enjoy your own personal preferences when fishing BUT KEEP YOUR ARROGANT ATTITUDE TO YOURSELF.

Woaaa, slow down cowboys!!! That post was just a joke, I didn't mean to det you all riled up!! I never said every trout should be put back!! When I said "the stoneage days of fishin" I really was talking about myself. I used to want to keep some every time. That was when I spinfished all the time with bait(not to say they are the only people that can keep trout). We used to go to dockery lake all of 3-4 times a year and bring the lawn chairs, coca colers, power bait, c**n, and catch our limit, when we caught over our limit we'd release them, and we'd also release the crappie and brim too. I suppose this is where I learned it. Then when we started stream fishing my dad released his, and suggested I release mine, we usually fished a little uncrowded stream, and we used to think those trout were wild, I'm still not sure if they were. I never said that I don't enjoy a good grilled trout. I developed a taste for trout, camping at the lake, and I have'nt exercised this taste in a while, and I might keep 2-3 for dinner saturday. I just believe one should take it easy on wild stream. After all is said and done the original reason god fut fish on earth was to provide food.
easily taken.......sorry

Missunderstood your post as serious. It would help if you put a wink on a post if it is a joke as it is hard to pick up tone when reading. See faqs at top of page and then see using smilies.
Looks like I need to learn to ask more questions before losing temper.
Reguardless of difference in opinion no one is of a lesser value.
