Went out fishin right after work...Decided to do some asking for fishing permission...Went right to the Ferguson Farm...Two old brothers...No kids...65 and 72.....They sat me down and talked to me I swear two hours about the old days....They must not get too much company...When I finally left there...three beers and my tongue tired from...I was going to go straight home...It was about 7:40pm....The stream was only 200 yards from the road and it was just too tempting not to actually look at the stream...I took the spinning rig with me and NOT my camera...MISTAKE....I was 50 yards from the creek and I could see all sorts of fishing rising...The creek is only 10-12 feet wide and 4-8 feet deep..It was 20 minutes before dark...I crawled the last 10 yards...I put a size 4 panther martin on in the brook trout color...FIRST cast I caught a 16 inch brookie...The next cast...a 12 incher....I went to the next hole and it was just getting dark...I casted three more times...two brookies.....14 incher and a 10 incher....Total casts 11 ....4 brookies....WOW....This guy owns 4 miles of Fancy creek which I will rename BROOKIE CREEK....spinner....

The Fergurson brothers sound like good people to know! Do they fish? Give us south Alabama folks a hint...what state were you fishing in?? My spouse and I stopped at a creek called Citico Creek (southeast TN) late one afternoon just before dark. I've never seen one pool with so many rainbows (big ones too). We had just purchased a non-resident 3-day fishing license with trout stamp. Only problem was we weren't legal until the following morning. We were staying about 30 miles (over the mountain) away, and we never went back (went to the Tellico River instead). We've always regretted our decision. SO MANY FISH...SO LITTLE TIME!

Snowwis is our surname upside down; however, the "n" has to be written with sharp angles (like the "w's")--Simmons! We do love trout fishing, and have to travel to do it! The ONLY trout stream in Alabama (that we are aware of) is the Sipsey Fork (of the Warrior River) which flows out of Lewis Smith Lake near Jasper, AL. The lake is the deepest in the state and COLD! Imagine the temperature being 100 degrees and standing in a 56-degree stream troutfishing! We usually fish in southeast TN, southwest NC or anywhere in north GA. There's something magical about fishing little places like Boggs Creek, Nancytown Lake, Tellico River, etc. Even if the fish aren't biting, we're enjoying some of the most beautiful scenery imaginable!! Our next trip will be to Cherokee/Maggie Valley, NC. The Cherokee Indians have their own trout hatchery and over 30 miles of trout streams (and more beautiful scenery). Drought conditions in north GA last autumn made it almost impossible to find enough water to fish in! We're hoping that has improved by now, because we do plan to stop and fish along the way...
