Down through town we checked our watches. We'd only have an hor or so to fish, by the time we got to the _______. It was early spring and the trees were still brown and had only a few stray leaves hereand there. The larger river was high with runoff from a recent rain and the road was slick and every turn was covered in washboard ruts.As we turned onto the dirt road , and climbed into the WMA,we saw two deer standing in the field by the big bend. Lots of folks park and fish there , even though it's posted every fifteen feet. The river is just too good looking on these stretches , and some folks can't resist the temptation. Climbing into the hills , the river departs to the right and the coves and woods feel cool and lonley. A small feeder runs down and under the road at the half way point....just before the Ranger station. too small to hold fish, it is, nevertheless, a nice sight for city eyes. Back and forth , left and right , twisting, twisting, ever climbing.....at the top, there's nothing to see but other hills, almost totally brown, and close enough to make out the few sprouts of color trying to emerge. At the top we turn downward and the winding road straightens out . The bridge over the creek looks like it leads to more trout water, but my friend says that we are " here" and we hop out of the car to take a look. In the 20 X 6 pool under the bridge , there are 25 or so rainbow trout finning in the slow current.

So where are we , I asked?

Well, where do you think, he said.
Where do YOU think.
