A story for Phlyster ( every word true, too)

It was a fair morning , chasing rainbows in the summer sun and I decided to tie on a new fly that I'd tied to get a look at it's action in the water. I walked over to the creek and, finding a small pocket near my feet, I flipped the streamer out. I held the rod high so that the streamer landed close by, just in the head of the pocket which was no more than two feet from the creek bank and only 3 or four feet in length. The biggest brown trout that I have ever seen casually( and I mean , CASUALLY) drifted up from the bottom of that tiny run and eased his huge hook shaped jaws around the little fly. Instinct set the hook, because I was too spaced out to do it myself. The trout felt the hook and simply turned downstream and gained speed....the reel soon singing in a high growl......he was headed for a downed tree and there was nothing I could do to stop him. I slid my hand up to the spinning reel and lightly pressed two fingers against the outer edge of the spool. snap. He was gone.
He was easily 18 inches and could have been 20. I was shocked and just kept starring at the tree, hoping to see him again. He had his nose to the streambed and his body pressed under that tree for sure. Who knows...he may have spent a week there. I am still not sure who was more suprised.
