Glad to hear you found a way to slow the on set of cabin-fever. While I enjoy your posts, I'd much prefer to think of you as I think of myself...fishing

Alright, Spinner!
Good luck on Sunday, and here's to you finding a great stream to while away the hours......
How's the weather supposed to be up there? I know it's gonna be cold here (to us anyway) in South Georgia for opening day of gun season. Latest forcast has temps in the mid 30's Monday for Valdosta.
How can you cast with all those coats on?

Is the Iowa season year round? I've fished in Wisconsin before but didn't know that there was any fishing in Iowa. I guess I'll bring my rod next time I visit my relatives.
Good Luck!
sorry. just reread your post, it answers my questions.

I finally made it to Iowa. I fished a stretch called Bloody Run.It is in Clayton County right near McGregor. It is right on the Mississippi River and the streams runs through the bluffs and into the Mississippi. I was expecting good fishin. When I got out of my truck...I should have had a clue. The ENTIRE parking area of the State Park was littered with beer cans. You name it...It was there....The stream banks were the same way...The trout were all tiny stocker rainbows. I caught one almost every cast..Rainbows DO NOT naturally reproduce up here and DO NOT make it through our harse winters. I felt like I was fishing in someone's pond....Surrounded by garbage.....A long time ago I bet these streams were loaded with naturals and the banks were not trampled down with heards of anglers and their garbage.....I left Iowa feeling SAD....

Man ! I know I complain alot about our streams being abused, but not that way. If our creeks looked like that, I'd probably take up knitting or something.
sorry to hear that Spinnie,

I know, seeing how disrespectful some people are to our outdoor areas makes me steam up. That sounds really bad there, keep looking, you may find a good creek there yet......
i know it is off the IA subject but what streams do you frequent in WI?
have you fished or heard of rush creek? http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif

Rush creek is one of the most beautiful sections of land in the county of Crawford...*God's Country*... is its nickname. The bluffs of the mississippi and lack of anglers and how EXTREMELY clean the area...I recommend this stream for a true trout fishing experience..Native brookies...Huge browns and PEACE and QUIET and the most beautful area in Wisconsin..I fish mostly knapps/crow/tainter/halls branch/ in crawford....I save Rush Creek for when I take a new angler to show them what all trout streams looked like ONE THOUSAND years ago......spinner...

i'm really glad to hear that you feel that way about rush creek. a guy took me and my dad there one night and we fished until well after dark. i caught a 9" brookie in darkness. there was an almost full moon, and the light reflected off of the rock face. it was without a doubt the most beautiful sight i have ever seen. i will go back as soon as i can make it, maybe spring break or this summer when school is out.
i will have my camera this time. i fell in love with those spooky fish and that stream in one night.

betzel...There is one real nice brookie in that stretch thatI have caught..His colors are undescrible. He is in a 90 degree corner just below the sheer road cliff near the one and only farm way back there. It is the farm that just pastures cattle now and has a very long driveway to it. When you on the road and on that cliff...look directly over and to the east and you will see the hole. It has some dead water in it on the bend..foamy looking always..That is where he lives..Please take a photo of him and post it if you get to see him...spinner...
