Fished the "Dustpan River" Sat. and saw only one other fisherman, besides my partner "Ole Punchy ". Caught about 75 between us - mostly rainbows sipping blue mayflies and midges, and that was barely fishing the last half of the day. Saw a couple of 15 inchers in the deep pools. Caught five or six while using the " lookin' at the scenery" method, and had a great time.

Lookin' at the scenery method-

Cast dry fly.
Drift behind, or to the side of it.
Look at trees, river rocks, or mayflies hatching.
Hear Splooosh sound.
Set hook.
Reel in fat rainbow.
Laugh and repeat. http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif

Ole' Punchy, I owe you one....or two, or three. http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif I can't show you a pic, but I can tell you that you wouldn't believe it anyway. http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif Too good to be true......just too good to be true.

Owl, I tried this technique a few months ago on my favorite river. Now, at last, I know what I've been doing wrong all this time: staring intently at my fly as it floats past a fishy lie. I've been slowly increasing my "stare into space" interval, and have not yet found the point of diminishing returns.

Although one of the swims I took in the Pit last week was due to application of this technique while I was wading from one spot to the other. Not recommended as a wading technique...
