Out of consideration to everyone else, I have been trying to bite my tongue and not respond to some outrageous remarks made in the political realm. I am not so deluded to think I'll sway anyone's opinion from their own entrenched philosophy. Should someone, however, be allowed to tell 50% of the story, and ignore the other 50% because it does not support their argument?
My suggestion- Open up a Political/Off Topic forum where people will know what they're getting in to before they enter. Then, when somebody writes a 300 line post that begs for comment, people won't be so shy about playing Paul Harvey and telling the rest of the story just because they don't want to bother the uninterested or perpetuate a 4 page, 128 post thread.

Sorry BK - don't let yourself be drawn in. I would not like that idea.
I personally love political discussions, but my opinion is that they don't belong on a message board titled "North Georgia Trout Online" unless it relates specifically to a trout's right vote http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/wink.gif. If I want a political discussion, I find a message board designed for that. Here, I want to talk about the fishing.

Black Knight,
And you`ve got my vote as, Moderator. http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif
Amen, FlygURL.
Surely there is enough political info and propoganda out there for us to sort through without having it here too. It's kinda like carrying your pager fishing - it gets in the way and can be annoying.

I guess you are right. I'm just frustrated and venting. VFS created a 2000 election forum to move the debate off the geberal forum. I like it- cuts down on sorting through all the garbage. But you are correct- NGTO is a fishing site.

I would like to submit my theory as to why a Political Forum wouldn't work, BK.
Some members do not visit the BB every day and click the sponsers, yadda'yadda'yadda....they recieve(normally, anyway) digests, that let them read the posts in their email. This has been a popular thing here for a lonnnng time, pre-Owl, if you wish. The only problem with the digests is that you have to "sort" through topics you don't like. In the past people were asked by other memebers not to post this or that, or not to be so funny( or try to be) and use so many smileys( A. Kirsen are you out there? http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/wink.gif ).....because "digesters" would then have to sort through all of it to get to the "good stuff". I think reading posts your not interested in because you get NGTO in digest form, should be like complaining about politicians after not voting. If you don't come to the site(vote) then you shouldn't complain(sorting). http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif
Now, what I think we need is an "unidentified creatures" Forum!

OhOhoHoHohohOOOOH.....almost forgot.....I'd like to say that it's funny how all the anti-political, "intolerant" http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/wink.gif suggestions are aimed at those of us on the Conservative side of things....I don't see anyone that is "nuetral" suggesting that ATB or the UGA guys are part of the problem.....never comes up with their posts. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.... http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh.......life as we now know it.
Tolerance for all except anyonw armed with the truth..oh..my bad....I meant right wing propaganda. http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif

Sorry Owl, but I didn't see your name or conservatism mentioned anywhere in this thread until you posted. I think that you are being a bit sensitive on this thread.
Might I recommend Access Atlanta's Politics Forum (http://www.accessatlanta.com/news/forum/politics.html) to those of you so interested in talking about politics?

At this point, I think we definitely should have a "Cow Tit" Forum in order that we might be properly schooled in the udder delights of bovine mammary glands. Such a storied subject could entertain us for eons (you know-Dairy Queen, Mayfield, Brusters, et al) whereas a "Political Forum" would be obsolete on Nov 8, 2000.
Be careful what you ask for... I came *this* close to adding a "Cow Tit" forum tonight, but my better judgement prevailed http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif

My question to those objecting to political comments on a trout page is....who is the person standing next to you holding the gun to your head making you read the post? Once you have determined that a post is political, and since most of them start with the word, political, usually it is not a problem. Why not just skip the post, saving yourself aggravation, and go on to the next post.
