I am not a member but I did buy a plate for my trailer because I am all for a trout type plate and I think if it also happens to help some trout too then all the better. Mine got stolen or what ever and now cobb co. tells me I have to spend the money for the "one time purchase" plate again if I want another. I was wondering who makes this type of decisions. No one could tell me why one has to buy a one time purchase plate "again" once one has been purchased. Anyway I was frustrated by this and wanted to vent and see if someone has some feed back on the matter. Thanks BD

The money you spent goes to TU and not Cobb County Goverment. The extra fee is regulated under state law and it doesn't allow for free bee's. Even if your regular tag is stolen you must pay to replace it. File with your insurance carrier as it is a vehicle fixture. You think I'm kidding but I took a report for a man who had his Sons of the Confedercy tag stolen and he said he was filing a claim. Sorry the county can't help you.

Bryan,

Unfortunately Piscator is right. Make sure you file a police report (you'll need it anyway to get another tag) and it lists you as the "victim". That way when the doofus is caught ridin' around with your tag, the agency that recovers the tag will call you for a court appearance. Believe it or not, the tag is prolly on a vehicle belonging to someone that is avoiding the purchase of a tag, ad valorem taxes, and insurance. As you're aware...when you buy a tag you hafta show proof of insurance (on a vehicle , not a boat trailer) and insurance ain't cheap.

Anyhoo....50/50 chance your tag will be recovered. Good luck and I hope the doode does some time,

The regular Ga. tag does not have a cost as it was explained to me today! If I wanted to buy a standard tag I would only have to pay 8 bucks for the decal, the plate comes with it...

One minor correction, the funds generated by Trout Unlimited license plate sales do not go to TU. Mind you, we wish they did! The extras funds generated - those above and beyond what a standard plate would have cost - go into the General Fund with a vague promise they will be used for fisheries related projects.
