We're working hard to get KCTU back to its glory days. I know we can do it!

In June, we'll help sponsor a Kid's Fishing Day at Jones Bridge Park (Gwinnett County). We'll also launch our "Back the Brookie" campaign.

I hope you will join us at our next meeting on Tuesday, May 11 at 6:30. Our very special guest speaker will be Ted Hendrickx of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

We'll meet the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 at:

Summit’s Wayside Tavern
3334 Stone Mountain Hwy
(Hwy 78)
Snellville, GA 30078
Phone: 770-736-1333

Call me if you have any questions. In the meantime...

Go Fish!

Here’s a question that I received tonight…

Do you mind telling me just a brief intro into this chapter/ I have tried to be supportive of all the TU chapters in the past. Thanks.

Here’s my response:

As I understand the history, the Kanooka Chapter was the third TU Chapter chartered in Georgia. KCTU was a premier Georgia chapter in it's heyday. But over the past few years, the chapter became inactive. However, a few local die-hard TUers and trout enthusiasts kept the candle burning.

A number of the KCTU members remained close, friends and fishing buddies. As the formal organization faded, they continued to support and participate in TU-type events and activities. Thankfully for KCTU, TU and trout, they are still here and have shown their support for KCTU's revitalization.

As part of its strategic plan to reactivate dormant chapters, the Georgia TU Council targeted KCTU for revitalization. This would fill the TU void in the eastern metropolitan Atlanta area. The closest active chapters were in Athens, Alpharetta or Buford. At its December 2003 planning meeting, the Council pledged to revive KCTU.

Early in 2004, the Georgia Council put its plan into action. The Council helped KCTU begin its rebirth with a March chapter meeting. In April, KCTU elected new chapter officers to move the chapter forward.

I hope that I've helped with some of the answers to your questions.

Please join us at our Tuesday night meeting. We'll meet at 6:30 on May 11 at
