I will be staying at the State Park for a long weekend and was hoping to catch my first trout on the Fly Rod. Any advice as far as streams in the area and flies to use would be greatly appreciated. I will be taking my kayak in case there is some good quiet waters to float and fish. Thanks

You won't find any trout fishing in the Tallulah River in the Gorge area. However, you may want to drive a few miles south to fish Panther Creek. If you want to fish from your kayak, try the lake at Tallulah Falls for bass, bream and pickerel. A little more difficult to access but a great lake to fish is Tugalo Lake, which is the end of the Chattooga and Tallulah Rivers on the backside of Tallulah Falls State Park. You may even find a few trout where the rivers dump into the lake. You'll also find big bream, bass and white bass there. Have fun!

I stopped by your shop and spoke with two of you (sorry didn't get your names) but I do appreciate your advice and I finally did catch my first trout on the flyrod on Panther Creek. Great shop and even better people, I will be stopping in whenever I'm in the area. Many Thanks for the help.
