View Full Version : Toccoa
How's the fishing on the Toccoa with all this rain we have been having? Anybody have any word on the noontootla and how it may look after the rain?
Thanks for the help. We are looking to fish later this week and want to get somewhere we can have a chance to catch some.

I fished the Toccoa tailwater Saturday evening after we closed the shop and had a great couple of hours. Size 16 & 18 tan EHC, BWO's in size 20 and black soft hackles in size 20. Water was off-color but fishable. I still think the Toccoa is fishing better than any other stream in the state right now.
Thanks Jimmy. Is the fishing any better at any of the access points on the river right now? What about Noontootla, do you have any recent reports from there?

reports we are getting from the noontootla are pretty good. Attractor patterns with yellow seem to be working best. Curtis Switch seems to be the local favorite on the Toccoa, but all three have plenty of fish.
Metrela,
I've heard so many good things about the Noontootla, but don't know where to access this stream. Can you help me or should I call you directly?
Thanks,
JScott
We went to three of the possible places we have discussed here. We went to the Noontootla first with high hopes that would be where were to fish all day. Wow, what a beautiful spot but **** hard to fish and navigate. We fished there for about five hours and between three of us caught one tiny little wild rainbow of about five inches. After we got tired of getting dirty, falling in the creek, sliding down mudhills, and crawling underneath large rhododenrons we decided to run up to the toccoa and get some real fishing in before they released the dam. We went to Tammen Park first and the water was so cold there I thought we would get hypothermia for sure. I managed one tiny little rainbow and after about one hour we decided to head down to the switch and fished there for about an hour. We fished right off the TVA access point and caught three nice healthy rainbows. The water temperature there was much more bearable.
As far as the toot goes, I just wish I would have brought my camera to take some pictures of the scenic beauty because I do not think I will ever go back there unless I decide to walk the Appalachian trail and I will have to hit Mega Millions before I can do that.
Thanks again for all the help.
