Early August Trip to Helen

Jimmy,
I'll be in Helen on Aug. 6-8, with my wife and a couple of friends. The girls are going shopping and the guys are going to try to fish. I called the shop to book time at Nacoochee Bend, but as I suspected, the water temp is, and will be a problem.
I'll have about a 1/2-3/4 day window, any other suggestions?

A half-day session at Duke's Creek Sat. or Sun. might fit the bill.

You're right, unfortunately. Water temps are not looking good for the remainder of July and August. Cannon Falls will likely be our only trophy water open for fishing; and that only in the mornings. The headwaters of the Chattahoochee should continue to fish fairly well. Dukes Creek will still be open to fishing also. I would try to book a reservation at Dukes for a morning trip. I think afternoons will simply be too warm to be very productive and even if you catch fish, there's likely to be some mortality.
