Josh,
During the summer we are only offering early morning trips. Surprisingly, the fishing has been very good lately; even some great dry fly action. However, that could change at a moments notice if the water temps are too high in the mornings.
We recommend nothing smaller than a 5 wt.; all our shop rods are 6 wts.
As for the guide, I would definitely recommend that, on your first trip, you hire a guide. Regardless of all the discussion on fed trout, I'll put this fishing experience up against most any place. If you think it's easy, just ask the participants in the last two Fly Fishing Masters events. And that was some of the top anglers in the country. Your guide is good insurance that you've done everything possible to have a good experience. They'll know the flies to use, where fish should be holding and how to fish a particular spot. If I were going some place new, I would hire a guide.
Look forward to having you as our guest.

Jimmy, my dad is going to come with me but all we have are 5wts. Do you rent rods we can use i would feel more comfortable with a 6wt. If so how much to rent two for a half day. thanks Josh

Josh,
If you fish with one of our guides, we'll provide the gear you need at no additional charge.

Josh,
I had the same concerns about fishing my 5 wt. but my guide, Rex Gudgel, who was awesome BTW (highly recommend although they are all great) said that he recommended fishing the rod I was comfortable with and my 5 wt. (St. Croix Legend) was just fine. Put on your selt belt and crank down on your drag cause you are in for an awesome ride.
