Jimmy,
I am scheduled to fish Dukes this Saturday. After all the rain, is it even worth the drive up?

If so, do I fish the stream any differently since the storm. And what patterns do you suggest?

Thank you.

fish deep and slow with wooly buggers and some kinda natural plastic worm concoction. saw many people this past weekend (actually now weekend before last with water still high from frances)catching the biggens off those. also i was having good success throwing dries (adams, cream caddis) off the heads of riffles. hope that helps some.

A good fishing partner of mine fished it Sunday and had a great day. Lots of fish and some nice ones (up to 21"). He didn't report on which flies worked but he's known to throw an olive woolly bugger on a regular basis. I would also have some San Juan worms in brown and pink. He did tell me that the road is washed out downstream of the covered bridge so the van can't deliver anyone to the lower end of three or four. Hopefully, by this weekend, the water will be closer to normal flows. Wading was a challenge last Sunday but the fishing was good. Be careful!

I'll be in a Silver F-150. But I was hoping to fish the afternoon too. Cause I really don't get a weekend to fish all that often. So, hope to meet some of you'll there? What patterns are you'll bringing/tying for this weekend?

I'd love to head over to Ami, but I have other plans in the afternoon.

As far as flies go, I'll probably focus on black stoneflies, SJ worms, olive WB's, hare's ear, etc. Anything I throw will be weighted down to get to the bottom.

See you in the morning.

Ok caught the big one on a 12 Olive Woolly Bugger with Brown Hackle weighted heavily. I took a nice 16 incher on a 14 Prince. Also hooked a real nice one on a 12 Brown San Juan Worm. Tried little stuff like 18 PT midge thing and hooked a 25+ Mostly fished the Wolly with something dropped of the back. Fished mainly section 3. I went up to 1 cause I had never been there but only caught one 14 incher (didnt feel like dealing with that kind of water but it was real pretty). I enjoy section 3 and there are some good holes to hit. Water was high but not unwadable and not krystal clear so you could fish without worrying so much about spooking fish. Tried a dry and got one rise some people were talking about getting hits on their indicator so maybe something big and ugly on top would draw a strike.. Everything was weighted to get deep.
