I am planning a day trip to Waters Creek on Saturday, and was wondering what the fish seem to be bitting on up there these days, besides the barbless type. Any suggestions on fly selection, and are there any parts of Waters Creek that are more productive than others? I read about under the falls. O Yeah, do you need a reservation to fish this creek?

the falls are not on waters creek they are on dicks creek unless you are mentioning the falls way up where waters divides and starts going up the mountains on columbia ridge. common mistake. now that being said fish worms fish slow and fish deep. san juans and plastic seem to be working well in that area lately. and if you can conjure up a couple ... make a few pellet imitations. there are usually a few pellets that are hanging around on sat morning .... i dont recommoned tying a few on a hook hehe (that is illegal is it can be) but stirring the pot with something already in the water (might be illegal too for all i know) sometimes gets em going ..... the area where the first road cuts off to the left is a feeding area and the fish are usually congregated in that area. also if walking up the road ... look for the long metal tubes that come off the sides of the road .... and follow those down to the other feeding areas early. the fish tend to spread out more duriong the day. if you get a chance ... the fish are fed on fridays youn go check em out ... and you are not bothering them in the least.

Hey Enigma, thanks for the info. Do you have directions there from 400 N.? I would appreciate it. BTW - The Jimmy Jacobs book refers to this creek being hard to cast a flyrod, b/c of the trees, but he mentions falls, where the folliage opens up, and you are able to cast into the big pools under the falls - anyway, that is where I got the waterfall idea from.

my 12 year old son and I fished it two sundays ago and caught about 4 fish each in just about 4 hours fishing. We had luck on dries ........... ausable and stimulators no giant fish but two in that 15 range. There are fish all up and down the creek but the feeding station where the old beaver pond was on the bend has the most congregated fish although we didn't fish that area as congregated fish mean congregated fishermen as well. Tough casting on some sections as the stream cover is coming back wild in most areas after the tornadoes. All in all stilla wonderful stream ........... fish the stream not the pods of fish and you might be suprised.
400 turns into long branch road ........ go straight until you reach the stop light. Turn right at the stop light onto 52 to 115 stay on 115 till cleveland then turn right on 129 n out of cleveland and follow it to the turner corner resturanunt corner (past the high school and alt 75) turn left at the resturaunt and the waters creek **** 's creek road will be on the right.
