Metrela,
Snowpee and I will be at the Dogwood Riverside Inn this weekend with our spouses. We will fish Fightingtown Creek at the cabins. We thought we might head over to the Toccoa just below the Dam if the release is okay. How has the fishing been there? What are they hitting and are they all still small? Any other local places to g0 or is Fightingtown Creek our best bet?
Any advice is helpful.
Thanks, Kim

WAR EAGLE back at ya.
The dam release is getting back to normal. The river is off color right now. Becky and I guided Sunday and has success with black woolley buggers and lightning bugs at the dam. Also had some takers on dries - any dries. Our guide Joel had a good luck with prince nymphs last week. Folks are have lots of success at Horseshoe Bend Park as well. I would certainly fish the Toccoa while your in town, but also go to the Noontootla, Rock Creek, The Amicalola and the Nantahala. All are fishing great and a short drive from Blue Ridge. The weather has been beautiful the past several days. You guys are coming at a great time! Stop in and say Hello

Thanks for the info. This next questions depends on the dam schedule but if we were going to do a 4-6 hour float Sat in float tubes would that be the distance from the dam to Curtis switch? Would we need flippers? Any suggestions?

As usual, Unicoi is dead on accurate. But I will bet you a dollar to a donut that if the water is clear at Dogwood you won't stray far!

I wouldnt try it in a float tube. You need a pontoon or canoe to float the Toccoa to reach one public point to another. Stick to wading and you'll have a great time. Plenty of fish at all 3 public access points.
