Even though this is primarily a trout fishing forum, there appears to be an interest in warm-water issues as well. Postings show that there is a strong interest in the quality of aquatic resources. It is also apparent that forum participants like to be informed of and involved in management decisions.

Here is an opportunity for active involvement in fishing resources. I would like to announce the inception of a Sport-Fishing Advisory Board at the Marben PFA at The Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center in Jasper County, GA (CEWC). Anglers are invited to participate in this information exchange program. This is an opportunity to provide input to the DNR on management issues and resource development at CEWC. The area features 22 managed lakes providing largemouth ba$$, bream, channel catfish, and crappie fishing opportunities. If you have fished here in the past or have never yet visited, you can become involved. We are looking for input from a variety of user groups. Your participation would involve fishing and providing meaningful feedback. It is that simple. If you are interested please contact me. Private e-mail response is fine. The number for CEWC is (770) 784-3059. As plan progresses I will post details on this forum. Thank you.

Ted,
I tried to email you, but it wouldn't go through. Thanks for the response for my post. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help. I would love to be involved. BTW, how many people fish at Charlie Elliot per day (average of course). Basically I was just wondering if it would be crowded or not.
Thanks,
William

I don't know why e-mail didn't work. I 'll try you direct. CEWC or Marben PFA (same thing)gets about 25,000 recorded angler trips per year, these are ones that are registered on the sign-in boards. Actual usage may be closer to 40,000 (I can get better estimate figure and post). Last year the busiest months were April and May with around 3600 and 4300 (respectively)anglers signing in. This year we had 843 sign in January... It gets use but there are enough areas and ponds that you can walk in to one of the hike-in ponds and not have too much of a problem. You could also float or boat the others and find a spot. Of course most use is on the weekends...

And most folks i se are fishing for bream and cats and usually sit in one place( usually closest to the docks or prkg. lots!). try walkin a few hundred feet around the ponds to get away from the Used areas - watch for snakes if t's warm, though. and try the tree in the water by the boat ramp at Dairy pond - hang on to your rod.... http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif
