This Pond is Closed!

I walked down to the pond this afternoon to cast a Clouser, and was abruptly met by a squawking Canadian Goose. It seems he and his mate have decided to raise a family in the shallow end of my pond. I could see the hen peeping from the bullrush to see what all the commotion was. The male bird was definately trying to draw my attention from the nest.

So I'll be taking a little sabbatical from warmwater flyfishing in the front yard, until the birds are less cranky. Guess I'll have to fish for trout the next couple of weeks. Dang!

I ran into some geese with attitudes at Island Ford too. They think they own the place (and they do!)

Some goslings are already out swimming, but other birds are still brooding.

They better not try that crap at my crappie pond. Can you say boom! boom! boom! Anybody got a recipe for cranky goose?

I'm sure there are a variety of flies that can be tied with a goose cape.
